Famous Saxophone Players

Friday November 18, 2005
The saxophone is very popular in jazz bands and many talented artists have contributed to innovations in jazz music and playing techniques for the said instrument. Here are the profiles of three of the most influential and famous saxophone players in history: Charlie "Bird" Parker, John Coltrane and Stan Getz. All three are considered icons during their times and each one of them contributed greatly to jazz music. It is sad to note that all three also shared the same drug problems during their careers. Yet, their creativity and legacy continues to influence many to this day.

Who is your favorite saxophone player and why? Talk back in the Forum.

This Day In Music History: 1680 - The composer Jean-Baptiste Loeillet was born.
