The Romantic Period was truly an enchanting time in music history. During this period, there was significant change in the status of musicians, they were more respected and valued by society. As a result, Romantic composers were inspired to create large volumes of work that continues to enthrall us to this day. Since Valentine's day is fast approaching, what better time to learn about the music of the Romantic period. Let's start off with some piano music sheets by Romantic composers. Listen to the music so that you'll have a good idea of the type of compositions during the Romantic era. Better yet, try to learn some music pieces and play it for your loved one come Valentine's Day.

This Day In Music History: 1735 - In Charleston, SC, the opera "Flora" premiered. This is said to be the first US opera.
