Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi - Famous Romantic Composers

Saturday February 11, 2006
There is no denying that parents play an important role in fostering the love of music in a child. If we look at the lives of some famous composers, most of them were influenced by their parents. Franz Schubert was taught by his father how to play the violin. Fanny Mendelssohn was taught musically by her mother. Giuseppe Verdi's father bought him an old spinet when he was a boy. Proof that some of the great composers achieved their place in music history because of the loving support of their parents. Here are three more of the well-known composers of the Romantic period.

This Day In Music History: 1843 - In Milan, the opera "I Lombardi" premiered.
