One of the benefits of music is that it can be utilized to teach other subjects like math and science. Music is very effecive especially when one needs to memorize something. Often, when music is used learning a certain concept or lesson is more easily understood by the student. I've gathered together many wonderful lesson plans that uses music to teach various subjects. I am a strong believer in using music, songs and paraphrasing in the classroom. My students enjoy the interaction and become more vocal in their responses.
Thanks for your comment Dinah, I agree that incorporating music to teach academic subjects are very helpful. Kids also respond well to it.
Have you found any research or studies that show the rate of success of students in classrooms that incorporate music into other subjects (ie: Math, Science, Physics, etc.)?

Our PA school district is considering cutting our elementary instrumental program and possibly cutting other arts programs.
