Chordophones

Many of us know that the piano belongs to the percussion family of instruments. Some contend that it is a string instrument since it is the striking of the string on the soundboard that creates its' characteristic sound. Based on the Sachs-Hornbostel System the acoustically correct classification for the piano is a chordophone that is struck. Read more about chordophones.
