Aaron Copland was not only a composer, he was also a music teacher, conductor and writer. Richard Rodgers was an American composer especially noted for his musical comedies. Olivier Messiaen was a French composer, teacher and organist. Witold Lutoslawski was a Polish composer who dedicated one of his compositions to Bela Bartok and Leonard Bernstein was the first American to conduct at La Scala Milan.
