Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre

Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre was one of the most notable women composers during the Baroque period. She was known as a gifted harpsichordist, improviser and composer. She had a son who died in the early 1700s, followed by her husband's death in 1704.

This Day in Music History: 1745 - Composer and violinist Carl Philipp Stamitz was born. He was the son of composer Johann Stamitz.
