Saturday January 24, 2009
Two notable names in music were born on this day: William Mason was born in 1829 and Neil Diamond in 1941. Mason came from a music-loving family; although at first his father wanted him to become a clergyman. He was the third son of Lowell Mason, considered as the "Father of American church music". His brother, Henry Mason, was one of the founders of the Mason & Hamlin Company. Diamond, on the other hand, has been in the music industry for more than 40 years. His hits include "Sweet Caroline", "Song Sung Blue", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and "September Morn." Learn more about these two musicians who were born on the same day, 112 years apart.
