Carol of the Day
"O Christmas Tree," also known as "O Tannenbaum," is a German Christmas carol. The composer of the melody is unknown, and though its earliest known lyrics dates back to about 1550, its lyrics is mostly attributed to Ernst Anschütz. Anschütz was a German teacher, composer and organist. See the sheet music.
This Day in Music History
On this day in 1883, Edgard Varese was born in Paris, France. He was a 20th century conductor and composer who experimented with taped music, electronic instruments and technology. His works include a composition for early forms of electronic instruments, chamber music, choral, orchestral and vocal music. Varese founded several organizations to promote his works and the works of other composers.
