By Espie Estrella, About.com

Carol of the Day
The words of "What Child Is This?" was taken from a poem written by William Chatterton Dix and then harmonized to an old folk melody known as "Greensleeves." Through the years, this touching carol has been known interchangeably as "What Child Is This?" and "Greensleeves."

Composer of the Day
Niccolò Paganini was an Italian composer and virtuoso violinist during the 19th century. His most famous work is the "24 Caprices" for the unaccompanied violin. His works, violin techniques and flamboyant performances impressed many composers and critics of his time. However, his fame also incited a lot of rumors.

Today in Music History
On this day in 1938, singer Connie Francis was born in Newark, New Jersey. The road to success didn't come easy for Connie Francis. At the beginning of her career, she recorded and released several singles that went unnoticed. It was her 1958 hit song titled "Who's Sorry Now" that propelled her to stardom. Today, she is considered one of the world's legendary and versatile singers.
