Personalized Music Gifts

By , About.com Guide

If you're still at a loss on what to give your loved one for a special event or during the holiday season, here's an idea; personalized music gifts. Personalized gifts are greatly appreciated because the recipient knows you put the extra effort to make it yourself. Here are some suggestions on gifts for music buffs with a personal touch.

Music Videos - Transfer photos and videos of you and your loved one/s from your digital or video camera to your computer. Then you can use programs like Windows Movie Maker to create your own music videos. You can organize your clips either chronologically or however you want it; choose background colors, transitions, video effects, font color, etc. Then add music to suit the theme of the photos or video clips. Save it and then transfer it to a disk, insert the disk into a disk holder and create a cover for it. Voila! You've made your own music video! I've made this for family and friends and the reaction is always priceless.

Mixed CD - Another great gift is to make a mixed CD of all your loved one/s favorite songs. Sort through their collection of CD's, or you can purchase songs from places like iTunes, and then choose the songs you'd like to compile. You can pick songs based on artist, theme or genre. Burn the songs you've chosen on a CD, insert it into a holder and create a cover art for it. You can also add liner notes and describe why you chose each song.

Private Concert - Whether you want it to be a gathering of family and friends or an intimate concert with just your special someone in the audience, performing for your loved one/s is such a wonderful gift. Not only will it show them how much you care, but it will also help you as a performer. Prior to giving a private concert, decide which pieces to add to your repertoire. Again you can choose based on artist, theme, genre or mix it all together. Don't forget to send out invites.

Dinner and Music - For those who love to cook, why not invite your special someone over for dinner and showcase your culinary skills? Plan your menu ahead of time; don't forget to add flowers and/or candles for a romantic touch. While you're eating, pop in a romantic song, preferably from his/her favorite artists. After dinner you can sit back and listen to the music or ask your special someone to dance.

These are but some gift ideas that any music aficionado will surely appreciate. If you have other suggestions, please email it to musiced.guide@about.com
