Also known as: Dowland was known for his melancholic, exquisite sorrowful music and the composer of lute-songs. He called himself Dowland, semper dolens which means Dowland, always grieving.

Musical Work: He published 3 collections of songs, wrote over 80 secular songs and numerous lute music. One of his most famous piece is called "Flow My Tears".
Interesting Fact: Elizabeth 1 rejected him as a court musician allegedly because he was Catholic.
