Let's usher in the New Year with music and cheer by playing one of our well-loved songs - "Auld Lang Syne." This is a traditional Scottish song derived from the poem of Robert Burns (1759 - 1796). Burns was a Scottish national poet who also wrote songs and lyrics. He first published a collection of poems in 1786 under the title
Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect, also known as the Kilmarnock edition. This was followed by another collection in 1787 known as The Edinburgh edition. He collaborated with James Johnson and Stephen Clarke to publish the 6 volume
The Scots Musical Museum and with George Thomson in the compilation titled
A Select Collection of Original Scottish Airs for the Voice. Below are links to other websites offering free music sheet downloads for various instruments of Burns' "Auld Lang Syne:"
