Trumpet Books for Children

By , About.com Guide

Compared to other instruments, there aren't a lot of good trumpet method books in the market that specifically cater to children. Perhaps this is because the trumpet isn't recommended for very young children. The age recommendation for children to start playing the trumpet is 10 upwards, at this age they are more able to form the proper embouchure. Nevertheless, here are the Top Trumpet Books to help and inspire a budding trumpeter.

1. Mel Bay's Trumpet Primer

This is a big-note trumpet method that appeals to young children. It tackles such topics as correct embouchure, beginning playing techniques and trumpet care. It features over 30 well known music pieces for the child to learn.
