How to Play:

A triangle is made of steel and shaped like a triangle, hence the name. It is hung or suspended and then struck by a steel rod or metal beater to produce sound.

First Known Triangles:

Triangles first became known during the 14th century and some were even trapezoidal in shape. During the 18th century, triangles were often used in Turkish Janissary music and in orchestras. In the 19th century, triangles were utilized because of its unique sound.

Musicians Who Used Triangles:

Perhaps one of the famous music composition which used the triangle is the Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major also known as Triangle Concerto by Franz Liszt.
