Leopold Godowsky (1870 - 1938) - He was a composer and virtuoso pianist who was born in Russia but would later on move to America. He is especially known for his piano technique which is said to have influenced other great composers such as Prokofiev and Ravel. Several volumes of books featuring miniatures for piano four hands have been published by Alfred's.
Edvard Grieg (1843 - 1907) - He is considered one of the greatest and most prominent Norwegian composers and referred to as "The Chopin of the North". He influenced other composers such as Maurice Ravel and Bela Bartok. His piano duets include:
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 - 1809) - As a young boy Haydn possessed a very beautiful voice and spent most of his time singing in church choirs. As he matured he focused his talents on composing, steadily making a name for himself and earning quite well. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a good friend of Haydn, in fact Mozart's Requiem was performed at Haydn's funeral.
Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886) - Hungarian composer and piano virtuoso of the Romantic period. Franz Liszt' father taught him how to play the piano. He would later on study under Carl Czerny, an Austrian teacher and pianist.
Felix Mendelssohn (1809 - 1847) - Prolific composer of the Romantic period, Mendelssohn was a piano and violin virtuoso. His piano teacher was Ludwig Berger.
